Celia Sepulveda, President
Celia A. Sepulveda, grew up a Jersey-girl in a small house in an urban factory-town that somehow miraculously fostered a tiny garden in the backyard. In it, her grandmother grew zucchini, tomatoes, green beans, and beautiful flowers. Moving to California for her undergraduate degree at UC Irvine changed her nutritional life forever; here, she experienced her first avocado at age 19! Celia then moved to Arizona to pursue her Ph.D. and spent over a decade working in colleges and universities. Her academic research focused on lower-income and first-generation students and their success in education settings. She identified race, class and gender differences in the way professionals advance and relate to their families, and the subtle cultural and class differences that mark or exclude one group from another. Completely changing careers, she then worked as a financial advisor for a world-renowned financial firm, co-managing over $100 million dollars and focusing on women’s financial issues. Described as a multi-tasking, information-hungry, ocean and children-loving, addicted-to-life maniac, she is now leading Mom-a-licious toward a nationally recognized source of information, education, and entertainment. One of her life goals is to open a world-famous octopus research, education, and interaction wing at the local aquarium. She lives in La Jolla, California with her husband Matt and their two sons.
